About Labor of Love Homecare Services
Owner, Pete Fitch developed a deep personal passion for care-giving to the elderly and sick while coping with Cancer in both of his parents. His mother was diagnosed in 1995 and struggled with the disease until her passing in 1999. It was during this trying and stressful time, that he was exposed to home based care-giving and Hospice care for the first time.
"The nurses, aides and caregivers were truly some of the most loving and compassionate people I had ever met. I realized that what they do was very special indeed. They also helped my Dad get through the day to day stresses of care-giving for my Mom and gave him some much needed respite to maintain his own health".
In 2005 his father also became ill and he and his family, were again, dealing with the complications of providing a level of care and comfort that his father needed. After several operations, radiation treatments and long recovery periods, the cancer was still spreading.
"My Dad told me that he felt the "cure was worse than the disease" and that his wish was to spend his final days at home with his family." Pete and his family, were again, working with the Hospice and care-giving community to make his Dad feel as comfortable and pain-free as possible towards the end.
"My Dad passed away, at home, with his family, in August of 2009 and I can't thank the loving folks from the Homecare and Hospice organizations, enough, for all they've done for us! they are all angels!"
Out of this personal experience, grew the passion to personally dedicate his life and business to providing this wonderful service to others in need. Pete has a profound belief that family caregivers need as much assistance and support, as possible to give them a much needed break and to avoid having caregivers becoming ill as well.
Pete has an Administrators Certificate for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly as well as 20+ years in business management. He is married, with four children and makes his home in Brentwood.
